How the powder stays on the metal

The powder passes through the gun, where it takes an electrostatic charge. The part is earthed, so the charged particles fly towards it and hold on the surface even before it enters the oven. That is how edges and areas not facing the gun directly are coated as well.

Powder that misses the part is not lost — the booth extracts it, the system sieves it and returns it to use. That is why powder coating is more economical and cleaner than wet painting.

By hand or automatically

We use automatic application for batches and for long elements that pass through the booth on carriers — it is even and fast. Manual application is for single parts, complex shapes and places the automatic guns cannot reach.

Coating thickness

Coating thickness is chosen to suit the application. For architectural aluminium around 60–80 micrometres is asked for in practice; a thicker film gives more protection but it also changes how the coating behaves on edges and in threads.
